Chantay
What is that in the wax? Same way I do it. Finally leveled my table, so now I just did items that are not trimmed. What type of wax are you using. I use soy. No smell. I don't think it's even flammable.
oldlady
the level of the wax is raised so i do not have to worry about putting my hand deep into the hot pan. there are 3 stacks of tiles to do that. i work outside with a fan behind me and use melted candles and whatever i find. oldlady
thank you, but they are not my work. they came from a tile store back in the 1980s. it has since gone out of business. i think they were on sale for a quarter of a dollar each. i bought them for their size, 8 inches. the level of wax above them is about a sixteenth of an inch. i feed new candles into the pan when it gets low enough not to make waves. they were red earthenware and had a blue slip covering the whole tile then the white slip was applied. it stands a titch higher so i suspect it was applied with a tube liner or an ear syringe by the original designer. of course, these were commercially made so some kind of extruder did the slipwork. rakukuku
we use an old electric skillet with melted paraffin. i think its fixed so it wont do high heat - just enough to liquify wax. we use it on masses of studio mugs. diane
oldlady
rae, that glassless table holds 6 wire refrigerator racks, they are my favorite recycled things. i use them for drying things because air gets underneath, i put some into the oven if things need more drying, they are the "boards" my pots go on once they are glazed and they stand in a corner out of the way when not in use. notice the black "holster" for my spraygun. the hose comes out of a window behind me and i do not have the LOUD compressor right next to my ears. the stuff not in the picture includes a wire plant stand for a bucket of water and sponge and the wire plant stand that holds my shimpo banding wheel. the towels hang over the table near the holster. i put on a show for the neighborhood every time i work out there. i have no "back" yard, everything is done out front.
