Can Anyone Suggest A Glaze To Match The One In This Photo?

It looks like an orange shino with iron decoration.

This page maybe has some leads for you. I'm thinking GA6-D for that light brown, and the tenmoku base for the liner and decoration? The chemistry is straightforward and they talk about the all-important firing cycle.

Diesel Clay,

Thanks for the link.  I have been looking for something like the Alberta slip glaze for my red stone ware.  Going to give it a try.  Although it is kinda pricey.  The Alberta clay locally is $132 for 44 lbs.

This is kind of the reverse price mark up that we pay in Canada for American goods. I can get Alberta slip for $50 for a 20 kg bag.

To buy cobalt carb locally costs me $68- for 500 grams versus $25- lb from US Pigments. I buy as much of my raw materials in the States as I can as it's unusual for materials to be cheaper here.

Wow Alberta for $132 a 44# bag-its cheaper for me to buy it from So-Cal and truck it north 15 hours than that. I think your supplier is a bit high on mark up-especially as its a Canadian product. Alberta is just not that far away from you.

I use a bag of Alberta every 3-4 months last buy I got 5 bags.Next time it will be more as I only have a 5 left in stock.

The thing about materials is trying to keep costs low.

Sometimes this means a few hoops to jump thru.

I took the price from the website. I will call this week and check, they have had prices listed wrong in the past. Thanks for pointing it out. If it is as cheap as you say then this could work out really great for me. I have been looking for a clear for my red clay for a year.

someone is making a tidy profit if it's 132 in US funds for what is available at retail for 50 CAD funds (which would be 40.12 US when you do the currency exchange). so, 91.88 US funds difference. that's an awful high amount for shipping!

Chantay, have you tried this yet? I could mail you a small package of it if you want to try some. Just pm me if you would like me to mail you some.
