AndyL
I've made extruder dies from plywood but I'm running into problem with cutting board plastics. My jig saw saw blade melts the plastic as it cuts and and binds. What sort of blade should I be using and how do you cut the board?

My jig saw saw blade melts the plastic as it cuts and and binds. What sort of blade should I be using and how do you cut the board? I use a CO2 laser to cut my dyes from a variety of substrates. Most any substrate that can burn is suitable for vector cutting on lasers. I use acrylic (Plexi-Glas) to produce my intricate dyes. Acrylic is readily available in my shop as we do many types of vector cuttings. My scarps come in handy for making dyes and other devices. We also laser etch on MDF all kinds of logos in reverse so we can impress an image on clay using my homemade slab roller. See www.mypotterytools.com where I have design and plans for the roller.
