desmond93
Someone mentioned doing a cone 03 soda firing. What glazes would you use for this? Does anyone have any recipes? How does it differ from a normal soda firing?

Marcia Selsor
I fired terra cotta to ^02-01. I used an underglaze base for sculptural accents and also used barnard slip instead of a stain. It came out a nice buttery creamy surface. The base recipe is 1/3 Frit 3110, 1/3 EPKaolin and 1/3 stain. I have done this by volume as well as by weight. Just experiment. desmond93
How low can you salt fire? with what glazes? Clay body?
Marcia Selsor
look up Salt-ku. Some people do it in a Raku kiln. I don't use glazes but rely on the soda to flux the clay's surface. You need to fire to the maturing temperature of your clay body. That is the temperature you need to go to. Marcia
