  1. Hello all... This morning I woke up and I went to check how my pieces were doing. I made two batches, one copper oxide and one maganese oxide. The copper oxide efflorescence has started, but it looks very strange.... Is this normal or does anyone have any ideas?? It looks a lot different to the other pieces. Formula: 90g silica 5g soda 5g lime 2.2g copper oxide 7g ball clay 30ml water
  2. Hello all! I am new to this forum and working with ceramics. I am a BA Egyptology student who is making Egyptian Faience for a project. Yesterday I purchased a EFCO 110 kiln. My issue is is that it cannot be operated without a temp controller and thermocouple. Would this be suitable? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111052555116?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT(It is a 2 in 1 I suppose) I cannot really afford anything pricey really, so this is my best bet hopefully. Otherwise I am screwed... How would I wire this up? Any tips, my boyfriend is pretty good with this sort of stuff so he is giving me a hand with that. And from what I know so far it looks pretty straight forward. Any tips or advice would be awesome thank you :-)
  3. What is the best alternative to a drying cupboard? I am working with Egyptian Faience and I have to leave my piece in a warm area with lots of air for the efflorescence to happen. Any ideas what is best to do this in without having a drying cabinet?
