...that moment when you realize your hard work got uncovered somehow before you were able to trim it... ;.;

    Hahaha! I keep saying I gotta hire a studio monkey to wedge clay for me, but now the job apparently includes cleaning up after my derpy moments. :D

Yesterday, I saw a pug that was so happy and excited, he was walking at a 45-degree angle against his harness. Sideways Pug got me thinking that I should put more pugs on my pottery. Been kind of running short on ideas...

    I get request all the time. I get kind of offended because they act like they can learn in 4 hours the knowledge I have acquired over 40 years.

    I'm from Europe and didn't get any offers. Should I be offended? Embarassed? Left out? ;-)

    No offers for me either, but when I was an IT trainer, I did "at-desk" training and the department finance guys would get upset that we charged the participant plus any colleagues who gathered around and watched. Our answer was that if you got on a bus and your friend was "just coming with you", they too would have to pay!

That moment when you run out of the slip you need...and realize that it simply will NOT mix itself. Yes, I am there now.

    I mixed some dark red clay slip last night. Got it just right ... then proceeded to spill half the container all over my work table, chair, and floor. I wiped and cleaned and there is still a crime scene in my studio. >.< Guinea: Can you mix it in the driveway? ;)

    I've used slip before but now heavily rely on black iron oxide stain. The iron oxide is used to bring out detail and imperfections.

    I was using red oxide but it's so messy if you don't want it on the whole item ...

Well, the presentation on pottery is over, and I hope its the last. Now I can get on to more important things like pottery to fire and post in the gallery. I do better demonstrating than public speaking.

I love using soy wax. It burns cleaner. And it make me hungry, lol, JK. But it is smokeless.

    Ha. This hits home for me. I have most of a five gallon bucket from wheel throwing scraps. I've never recycled clay before but I'm thinking I'm going to do it this week before it gets any worse.

We have a couple of tile murals here in saint Augustine themed around st Augsburg history. The kids did an excellent job. Want me to take pics?i would have thought Spanish conquering of the new world boring , but the tiles are great.

    My ancestors made beautiful terracotta works until the Spaniards came along and kinda wiped most of them out. They really adapted their own aesthetic to get around the religious and political censorship, though. Lots of hidden messages and stuff. :3
