After a month of conquering 4qt bowls, I'm finding myself much happier with 8 pounds of clay and just a 3qt bowl. Yes. That makes be about a 'quart low'...but we've known that for a while, right?

My first ever single firing is in the kiln. Hunting round the house for displacement activities to keep me from wondering just exactly what is going to happen.

What a mess. Just had my thermocouple replaced and I've looked into the kiln and it's a mess!!! Shelves have broken and needless to say all the pieces have crashed into each other. A total write off. Some nice stuff in there as well

Oops! I lost mine years ago after taking it off for pottery. Not sure if my wife has ENTIRELY forgiven me though we're still together 20 years on ;-). In fact it was her idea for me to get back into clay - I'm beginning to wonder why.

Made a slip from my new clay formula and cast my 12 x16 arched tile mold yesterday. Popped it out of the mold and hour later and it is still perfectly flat this afternoon. First time that has happened.

Joseph: so far all I have to do is roll and cut. I do not touch them again until they are bone dry. No turning or weighting- cuts labor way down.
