I was, too! These dang bowls are a pain to make, though. I wanna get into making more tea jars with cork lids. :3 Those are fun and I like the rustic look. :)

One of those rare winter days in the Inland NW where it was sunny and 50F. Didn't get any throwing done, but ooooweeee! You should see how nice and clean the chicken coop is now! LOL!

Had a week solo as my husband went to a Physics conference at the Aspen Center for Physics. I had a few issues with technical things around the house but all is well now and he is back home.

No. computer virus. Had to go to the geek squad. Even they couldn't get rid of Mackeeper. Had to erase everything and go download a previous backup from our time machine.

I have that uneasy feeling that I accidentally added 2x the amount of Bentonite to a 5 gal mix of Ohio White...And I won't know the exact effect until I test it. Pooh!

Well, you shouldn't need to worry about hardpanning. If it was a low %, likely not much to worry about.

You do so have to concentrate during some aspects of ceramics - glaze mixing being one. For me, when attaching & refining delicate clay stencils (cut from 1/8" thin slabs) to the rim of bowls - the slightest loss of focus and I can catch the stencil and it's irreparably broken. As an inexperienced thrower, I also have to avoid throwing when I'm tired! Hope you can salvage the glaze!!

I've already fired kilns 3 times this year. Usually bisque twice and glaze twice per year and that's it. I'm cranking stuff out this year!'.

I will feel more magical when I get the results out of the kiln later this upcoming week. I will fire it tomorrow. I think one of them is a bit too thick. So only time will tell. But it was easier than I thought it was to mix the stuff together, at least a test batch of 400G.

I was looking at some pit fired pots, and saw how glossy some of them were--like lacquer. Would that have just been burnished/sig, or do you think something shiny was added? SUPER gloss.

if you want yours shiny, ill take em to the wood shop and spray 3 coats of laquer on em, buff them out with a high speed buffer and those babies will blind a guinea potter. :)~
