  2. Moved!

We made it all the way to our new town* ok this last Sunday.

Most all our stuff is in storage whilst we stay with our Son and look for a new house. The movers left my wheel and a box of clay near the front, so I might set up to start making greenware** if I get bored, heh. ...no idea where my ribs, sponges, stick, chamois an' all are. However, this town has what appears to be a fully appointed Ceramic Supply store! !! It's open on Tuesday and Saturday, I want to go to there...

This was a nice space to work in.
That big window supplies a lot of light.
Lots of shelving, just enough counter space.
The next space, I'll need some heating/cooling, for it gets both hotter and colder here than Los Osos...

The back yard was coming along.
Just about everything needs a pruning.
I hope the new owners keep it up and, And, keep the bird feeder full...
There are many of the same small/songbirds here in Chico. Interesting that the House Finch here has a slightly different song than those in Los Osos.

    *Chico, California
Where IMCO is just over a hundred miles away; I'll be able to make a clay run on little more than a whim!

**I'd smashed a hundred fifty plus hours of work into buckets for reclaiming later on.

Congrats? on getting into your new place. Your old studio looked great!, and that back yard looked really nice.

We had to add heat/air to ours too, and the heat broke in October, the part finally arrived in January, lol.

I am so far behind on making pots.... of course sales were great at the store so I have no spoon rests, sponge holders  or mugs left, and have not started my 50 mug order.

I couldn't take it and went out last night to at least get it up and running temporarily so I can make greenware, will get the kiln going next week.

  8. Well,  hot diggity dog--I have received an invite from the Ceramics Art Network's magazine, Ceramics Monthly, to write a short article w/pics for the Quick Tip series. It will be about my simple "works for me" inventory/storage system.

  9. 1st bisque of 2019 firing now

Turned out pretty well, have done 2 bisque's and a glaze fire. Blew up one of my planters with the built-in drip tray, didn't let it dry long enough, the bases are pretty thick.

Thanks! I hope you are up and running soon! I did not respond to your thread, but I bought the breaker, wire and receptacle, moved a few things around in my main breaker, crawled under the house, and saved big money.

Thank you Gabby, it's just the job, I don't know if you've ever seen the old TV show "The Prisoner", but I am number 616352 and that's all I am. The pay and benefits are too good to give up though, so I get on with what needs to be done. I'm solid, but sometimes it feels good to vent.

Thanks guys, it's just hard right now, external factors taking my time and mandatory OT at my job, I feel a terrible loss when I don't get to put the work in.

  14. Makin' pencil holders and utensil holders for the farmer's market, hope I can get them bisqued and glazed by Dec 1st... stupid "money" job interfering with my "dream" job, lol. - Mugs are ready to gomugsforfarmersmarket.jpg.c4bd6b160e03c8e4861fe2d6e9ab0622.jpg

Not knockin it too bad, just wish I could throw a lot more and the job eats up a lot of my time. Thanks for the tip! I had not thought of card holders. I'll try to think of a design for that.

  15. Waiting for big bowls to dry so I can trim after work

    1. shawnhar

      shawnhar

All things considered the mugs went well, I think I lost 12, 2 handles popped, a few had tiny cracks and a few had glaze issues. Made more since then and I have a dozen more already bisqued and ready to glaze.

I have problems with my large bowls getting a tiny little crack in the bottom or warped rims, hoping this set of 6 will not have any issues

  16. Got an order for 10 medium bowls for Christmas gifts...when asked about color, the customer said "Just work your glaze magic!", sooo...pix in about a week or so.
