Sad to hear that the world of ceramics is not exempt from it predators . Have a look at @softearth.ceramics on instagram to read about her tragic experience being a potter's apprentice in Copenhagen

Finally, going to take the plunge and buy my first kiln. I am feeling a little scared....I have some experience firing someone else's kiln...but it has been a few years.
My space in the basement is all wired, got a great vent area....the house had an old oil furnace removed 30- 30 years ago, but the chimney still has the vent and the opening is close to where the kiln is going.

Today the replacement lid with a counter weight came. Tomorrow my helpers come to lift the kiln and with out stands. And today I laid the foundation for my large raku kiln with a pulley system. Soon I'll be making big pots again. Very happy we have warm weather this week.I need to build the raku kiln in place so the pulleys and attachments to the chamber line up. Friday we had this. 6.5" of heavy wet snow. Many tree branches snapped. Today it was perfect for working outside.

People have asked me about my Hidden Mask series, so I have inserted some comments on the individual pics in the gallery. I have been doing face-pressed pseudo masks for many years. This particular series is about "honoring the survivor", whether that be metaphorical or literal.

Got back Thursday night from my La Meridiana workshop in Italy and visits to Florence and Certaldo Alto before the class and Faenza, Ravenna and Venice after the class. I sprained my ankle first day of the workshop, but it didn't interfere with my teaching, thankfully.
I wil try to get my photos downsized so I can post a few.

Found out about this pottery studio in Wellington NZ with a 24 hours access membership. Can't wait to move there in December and get all geeky about ceramics everyday

Yay, I went to my first craft market today. My wife and I had a great time. There was only about 15 vendors, but I was the only potter. I sold almost everything and even got some commissions. I want to thank you all, for your kindness, acceptance and support. Along with all your great advice I was able to feel confident that I could do this. It wasn't about the money, but it was ok, but just knowing that I have friendships that care about me, makes me a millionair. I couldn't have don...
