  2. Pacifica Wheel At Auction In Michigan

I wish to thank you for your post. The wheel sold for around $160 I think. It was sold by a school that had changed instructors and their pottery equipment sat idle for many years. There also was a Skutt 1027-3 kiln for sale that was reported to not work. As I already had a wheel I did not bid more than $150 for the wheel and lost out to a higher bid. However needing a kiln I also bid for it. I got the seldom used, almost new, 10 year old kiln for $106 plus tax. I did have to transport it home from Michigan to Oregon but I needed to be in the area at the right time anyway. I was a happy camper!!!! Yesterday I took the control box to Skutt (about an hour away for where I live) and got everything I needed to replace the burned out wires. It was a simple task to replace the wires as Skutt makes it easy to work on the electronics. Total bill including the wires, seven peep plugs, and other stuff was $78. Skutt was wonderful to work with and they even tossed in some extra parts for free. Had I asked, they probably would have done all the repairs for me at no charge. Now I need to get the electrical wiring installed in my garage studio and I will be a full service potter. I often see kilns and wheels on the government auction website ( http://www.publicsurplus.com/ ) and have purchased several items over the years but this was my best score by far. Again thanks for letting us know.
  3. One of the best youtube series is: https://www.youtube.com/user/KaransPotsAndGlass She is a school teacher with a gentle, encourging teaching style that covers a wide range of topics. Another site is: http://www.lakesidepottery.com/index.html Very informative site for everything from building studio tools to how to create special pieces. I just recently built a wedging table following their instructions http://www.lakesidepottery.com/HTML%20Text/Tips/Making%20Wedging%20Table.htm that came out great.
  4. Stool/chair Height?

After siting on a stool and always having a backache afterward, I now use an office chair without arms in my studio. This allows me hours of time with no discomfort at all. I can adjust the height should I ever need to and the back rest is very comfortable.

  7. While viewing a government auction site I see three Brent b wheels are up for sale. The site is the Public Surplus dot com under the Music and Arts section. The listing is number 1029941 and is offered by the Uintah School District, Vernal Junior High School, 161 North 1000 West Vernal, UT 84078. Link for the auction is: http://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/auction/view?auc=1029941
  8. I send the items (mostly bowls, covered dishes, casseroles, and platters) that do not measure up to my standards to a friend who runs a plant nursery. There they make planters out of them - usually covering up any flaws I found, and the plants become the main focus. I barter the pots for plants so we both win. I find there are people who appreciate different things in every pot and have been surprised how some pots I just was disappointed in are admired by others. When the pot is no longer the element of attention but in partnership with other materials/plants it is a good symbiotic unit. If I don't feel a flawed pot is good enough for turning into a planter I use it for target practice at the gun range.
