  2. Do you prefer to work in your studio alone, or in a communal studio? In which circumstance do you feel more productive? Happier? I would probably get more work done by myself, but truth be told, I actually like to have people around. Which is probably also why I continue teaching, while also working in the university studio.   5. Do you have a favorite clay body? Stoneware (light or dark), porcelain, terra cotta? Do you work with more than one clay body? Why did you choose the particular clay you use? I work with two bodies, one that I make and one that I buy. I use stoneware for most of my work, but every now and then I want porcelain for its wonderful qualities (despite its difficulties); I buy it.   6. Are you sometimes torn between throwing and handbuilding? How do you solve this issue? I love them both and move between them, alternating--a month or so doing one, and then I switch to the other. Sometimes they mesh!
