Alternate View of Bud Vase
This is the alternate side of the bud vase. You can see more of the crackle pattern that affected the glaze perfectly. This is really more what I was going for from that first vase. This one just came out the right color.
I am planning to move this into yunomi soon for entrance into cup shows. This type of crackle effect is so minor that it doesn't effect the durability of the ware. I am personally really happy with this. The next step is to side fire these pots on shells with wood ash sprinkled on top of the side that is up. This will be a long going process, but this is the direction I am taking my work. I am even at the point where I am abandoning the previous grey jar that I posted and loved so much.
The vase and the two others are the happiest pots I have ever pulled from my kiln. They are unlike most stuff I see on the internet and they define my aesthetic perfectly.

The tricky part will be seeing if there is a market for this type of work. I suppose it is more limited than a market that just likes blue drippy glazes. However the people who appreciate this type of work probably will be more willing to pay a higher price for it, which is the end goal for me as I want to continue advancing my work and selling my experiments along the way. Which is one of the reasons I have been making mostly decorative stuff at the moment so I don't have to take into account food being on the surface. However all of this stuff contains nothing toxic at all.
