Thanks Roberta, many years ago now, a wonderful teacher and friend Katherine McBride, taught me to pull handles. Sadly she passed away a few years ago, but her work was beautiful and really fun. She was a graduate of Alfred and head of the art department at Cabrillo college. I knew her when she was a brand new teacher at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA. One night Katherine, myself another teacher Dave Ogle and one other student who was a production potter at the time worked all night making cups and pulling handles for a Christmas sale to benefit the art department, I think we made close to 500 cups. When you spend the whole night doing nothing but pulling handles you get some sore hands...but you get really good at handles.

Beautiful glazing. I love the pop of colour on the handles. Will you share the glazes and technique?

Thanks Cathie, the glaze combination I used was to dip the mugs in Malcom shino and second dip half in jeffs red fired to cone 10 reduction. Both glaze formulas can be found in john britts high fire glaze book.
